Overview

Firestorm is a Nigerian mobile app where customers sell gift cards and e-currency for Naira, buy airtime and data, and pay utility bills without switching apps. We designed and built the iOS and Android apps, the website and the admin portal, launched it in 2025, and maintain it today.

The challenge

The typical Firestorm customer had a trading app for gift cards, another for crypto, a bank app for airtime and a separate one for electricity. Every task meant a different login, a different wallet and a different support line.

Too many apps for simple jobs. Customers moved money between apps just to recharge a line after a trade.

Cash stuck in the wrong place. Money from a gift card sale had to be withdrawn before it could pay a bill.

No reason to stay loyal. Traders in this market switch platforms for a slightly better rate, and nothing rewarded the regulars.

Hard to scale operations. Rates, trade checks and payouts needed to run smoothly for every customer, from one off sellers to businesses trading in bulk.

Trust takes time. A new platform has to prove it pays fast before customers bring it their cards and coins.

The goal was one app that handled trading and everyday payments together, and gave customers reasons to keep coming back.

Our approach

1. We built one home for everything. The app opens on three clear services: gift card trading, e-currency trading and bill payments. Customers find what they need in a tap, not in another app.

2. We connected trading to spending. Proceeds from a gift card or e-currency sale land in the customer's balance, ready to withdraw or to pay for airtime, data and utility bills straight away.

3. We made every trade simple to follow. Customers sign up with email or a social account, pick what they are trading, follow a few guided steps, and track the status until they are paid.

4. We built loyalty into the product. Referral bonuses bring in new customers, and the Best Customer of the Month reward gives regular traders a reason to stay.

5. We gave the team an admin portal. Firestorm's team sets rates, reviews and approves trades, processes payouts and runs promotions from one place, with support for bulk trades from businesses.

6. We launched and stayed on. We took the apps through the App Store and Google Play, built the website, and keep shipping updates to improve speed and stability.

The outcome

Firestorm launched in 2025 on iOS and Android, with its website and admin portal, and Soft-Web Digital maintains it today.

One app instead of four. Gift cards, e-currency, airtime, data and bills live in one place.

Money that moves straight to use. Trading proceeds can pay bills without a trip through the bank.

Customers with a reason to return. Referrals and monthly rewards turn one off sellers into regulars.

Operations that scale. Rates, approvals, payouts and bulk trades run from one admin portal.

Regular updates. The app keeps improving release after release.

What can you do on Firestorm? You can sell gift cards and e-currency for Naira, and buy airtime, data and pay utility bills, all in one app. Regular customers can also earn referral bonuses and monthly rewards.

Can Soft-Web Digital build an all in one payments app for my business? Yes. We build apps that combine gift card and crypto trading, bill payments, wallets, rewards and admin portals for iOS, Android and web. Request a quote or book a free strategy session at softwebdigital.com.

How much does it cost to build a bill payment and gift card app in Nigeria? It depends on the services you offer, your payment and bills partners, and features like rewards or bulk trading. A focused first version can launch in a few months, and we share a clear quote after a short discovery call.

How do fintech apps keep customers loyal? The strongest apps reward the behaviour they want. Referral bonuses bring in new users, and rewards for top customers, like Firestorm's Best Customer of the Month, give regulars a reason to stay instead of chasing a slightly better rate elsewhere.
