Overview
Ecstasy is a Nigerian fintech app that puts everyday payments and international spending in one wallet. Users get a dedicated bank account number from a licensed banking partner, buy airtime and data, pay electricity and TV bills, convert spare airtime and crypto into Naira, and create virtual dollar cards to pay for services abroad. We designed and built the iOS and Android apps, the landing pages and the admin behind them, and we keep shipping updates.
The challenge
For a lot of Nigerians, paying a Netflix, Spotify or Canva subscription is harder than it should be. Naira cards get declined on foreign sites, dollar limits keep shrinking, and the everyday payments are spread across too many apps.
Naira cards fail abroad. Bank-issued cards often get declined on international websites, or come with tiny dollar limits.
Spare airtime and crypto were hard to use. Unused airtime sat on phone lines, and turning crypto into Naira meant extra apps and middlemen.
Too many apps for simple payments. Airtime, data, electricity and TV each lived in a different app or USSD code.
Trust is everything in fintech. Users need to know their money is held safely and that a failed transaction will be reversed.
Funding had to be easy. People needed a simple way to move money in from any Nigerian bank.
Ecstasy wanted one app that handled local payments and global spending, built on licensed banking partners so users could trust it.
Our approach
1. We put a real bank account behind every wallet. We integrated Ecstasy's licensed banking partners so each user gets a dedicated NUBAN account number. Users fund their wallet by transfer from any Nigerian bank and see the balance update instantly.
2. We made dollar cards self-serve. Users create a virtual dollar card in seconds, fund it from their wallet and use it on international websites and apps. They can freeze, unfreeze or delete a card any time, and the app shows limits and fees before they confirm.
3. We turned spare airtime and crypto into cash. Users convert eligible airtime into funds in a few taps, and sell supported crypto assets straight to Naira in their wallet. Value sitting on a phone line or in a crypto wallet becomes money they can spend.
4. We put everyday payments in one place. Airtime and data for MTN, Glo, Airtel and 9mobile, electricity, DStv, GOtv and StarTimes, plus exam PINs and vouchers, all paid from the same wallet with every transaction recorded.
5. We built trust into how money moves. PIN and biometric login protect every session. Failed transactions are reversed to the wallet automatically, and every fee is shown before the user confirms, never after.
6. We kept the product moving. Ecstasy has shipped steady releases since launch in 2023, with version 2.8.3 going out in October 2026.
The outcome
Ecstasy is live on iOS and Android, with more than 100,000 downloads on Google Play alone.
International payments that work. Users pay for subscriptions and online services abroad with a dollar card they control.
Spare airtime and crypto become Naira. Unused airtime and supported crypto are converted to spendable Naira in the same app.
One wallet for daily payments. Airtime, data, power and TV are paid from the same balance.
Funds held by licensed partners. Users fund by bank transfer into their own account number, with money held by regulated banks.
A product that keeps growing. Regular releases keep adding features and improving the experience.
